Change The World

A few things you can do to make a BIG difference.

1. Get involved! Know your representatives and the issues at hand. Ask them to support whatever you think is best for you and your neighbors. Odds are if you're reading this you'll want to ask them to push for clean, renewable energy; mass transportation; protection of green areas and waterways.

2. Use compact florescent light bulbs. Quite possibly the easiet thing you can do. They use about 1/4 to 1/3 the energy your standard incadescent bulb uses. Plus they last about 10 years, no more trips to the store for light bulbs (except every decade or so).

3. Lather with the water off. You save water, energy to heat the water and you get cleaner! Water heaters cost the average home 30% of it's energy use.

4. Turn the heat down while you sleep. You'll sleep better and save energy while being unconscious! Turn the heat down while you're at work (no sense paying for the heat you'll never feel). A programmable thermostat might help you. Leave the heat down and wear socks and a sweater. Every degree counts big.

5. Know your neighbor, get involved locally. It's a sense of community that will help us learn to love our community and take care of it. "The earth is not given to us by our parents, it is loaned to us by our children" ~Old Kenyan Proverb.
